The Gibson Les Paul Special in TV Yellow is a straightforward, no-frills solidbody built around an all-mahogany platform and a pair of P-90 soapbar pickups – a combination that has defined a particular kind of raw, punchy tone since the mid-1950s. The slab mahogany body and set mahogany neck work together to push midrange forward, and the wraparound bridge couples directly to the body to maximize sustain without adding mechanical complexity. The two P-90s are wired to individual volume and tone controls with a 3-way toggle, giving you a biting bridge voice and a warmer neck voice that cover a lot of ground from blues to harder rock.
P-90s run brighter and leaner than humbuckers but carry real output, so they handle both clean work and driven amps without sounding thin. The 50s Vintage neck profile is a fuller, rounder shape – worth playing if you’re used to a slimmer modern profile. A 24.75″ scale and 12″ fingerboard radius with rosewood keep string tension and bending feel balanced across the board. The GraphTech nut improves tuning stability under heavy playing.
